We offer continuing education units to any listener and/or reader interested in obtaining credit for their progressive learning experience. In order to keep you well informed, we have created a FAQ:
1.) Do I have to pay to listen to your podcast or read your blog?
No! We are passionate about our personal contribution to FOAMed (Free Open Access Medical Education). Our paid services are purely for those who desire official credit for their learning experience.
2.) Who accepts your continuing education units?
IA MED is an accredited CE provider. We have partnered with their organization to provide continuing education units that are accepted by CAPCE and California Board of Nursing. These apply to most licensure and certification renewals. That means any pre-hospital provider and nurse can benefit from our program.
3.) What about those of us who aren’t pre-hospital providers or nurses?
Don’t worry! We are actively working on providing CME’s for the rest of you. Your ability to also benefit from our service is a top priority.
4.) How do I get credit for listening to your podcast or reading your blog?
Simply select the desired Heavy Lies the Helmet content from the IA MED portal. Once payment is made, you can stream or read the content directly from there. Complete the test at the end, and you are done! You will receive a certificate immediately afterwards as proof of your experience. That means NO wait time. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
5.) Do you offer a subscription service?
We want the payment process to be as painless as possible. Unfortunately, we do not offer a subscription service at this time. You must pay as you go. This is something we are actively working on, though. Rest assured that it’s coming.
6.) Why don’t I see all of your content posted on the IA MED portal?
Unfortunately, the submission process takes time. IA MED and ‘The Collective’ were the first pre-hospital educators to offer this service, so a lot of it is uncharted territory! We are working hard to get our content vetted through the necessary sources, so that you can acquire as much as you need. Keep checking back for more content. We will also post updates on our social media pages, so make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
7.) How can I trust that your content is accurate and will meet my professional requirements?
All of our content is reviewed by our own medical director, IA MED’s medical director, and an education committee. Every single piece of content is reviewed as an individual submission to insure absolute accuracy before approval. This is the main reason why only one episode or blog is posted at a time. (Disclaimer: This is not a substitute for your protocols or sound judgment.)
8.) What if I have already listened to a podcast episode or read a blog entry?
Unfortunately, listening to or viewing content must be confirmed via the IA MED portal. This instills confidence in the accrediting boards that no one can take advantage of the system. That means you must access the content from the portal before you can receive credit. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though – We all need refreshers.
9.) What if I have issues regarding my payment or certificate?
All logistical errors will be handled directly by IA MED staff. Their contact information is located on the website.
