Crash and Learn

“Whether it’s crashing patients or helicopters, we need to learn to do better.”

Crash and Learn is the premiere outdoor conference that offers an all-encompassing experience like no other. This resuscitation retreat is not only accredited and affordable, but it prioritizes educating clinicians that directly impact patient outcomes.

Unlike other conferences, Crash and Learn does NOT have slide presentations, business casual dress, unrelated company booths, or encouragement of a “party” atmosphere. The educational content is the highest priority. Sessions cover an array of evidence-based topics including the following:

  • Emergency Medicine
  • Austere Medicine
  • Critical Care
  • Mental Wellness
  • Aviation Safety
  • Crash Survival

Subject matter experts instruct via whiteboard lectures, hands-on workshops, and/or high-fidelity simulations. Not only are these methods proven to better promote retention of information, but attendees are able to interact directly with world-renowned educators. Additionally, instructors and students are able to spend time together before and after education sessions, so the learning never stops.

Forget stuffy conference rooms in a city with nothing to do! Come learn in the forest, under the stars, amongst motivated peers!

Why outdoors?

The outdoors is conducive to realistic learning since we often operate in this environment. It also encourages creative approaches to standard operations.

Crosscut Mountain Sports Center, 16621 Bridger Canyon Rd, Bozeman, MT 59715.

Where is the closest airport?

Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport

How much do tickets cost?

Tickets are $310/person.

How do I purchase a conference ticket?

Tickets will go on sale via Eventbrite on 2/24/24 at 2PM MST/4PM EST. 2023’s conference sold out in 3 hours and 38 minutes, so we encourage purchasing early.

What does an All-Inclusive ticket include?

All-inclusive tickets include everything and are the only ticket you and your vehicle need to attend.

Do I have to be an active flight crew member to attend?

Absolutely not! Our conference includes content that is applicable to all pre-hospital and intra-hospital disciplines.

Will I get CE’s for attending?

You will receive approximately 14 Continuing Education Hours courtesy of Impact EMS. These are applicable to nurses, paramedics, and other sub-specialities. (CME’s for providers are currently unavailable.)

How many attendees will be there?

Approximately 200. Groups are intentionally kept small to facilitate a safe and individualized learning experience. In order to achieve this, we cap the number of attendees, staff, affiliates, and sponsors.

How do I get to the campground?

We are not offering shuttle services for 2024’s conference. We recommend utilizing rental services, ride-share, and/or carpooling.

How long will I be there?

The conference is two full days of education, but we include the days before and after in the price of admission. That means no hotel costs for 4-days!

Where will I stay?

BYOT (Bring Your Own Tent). Attendees are able to choose their own site within the designated camping area to set up a tent. We also accommodate RV’s, overlanders, and pop-up tents <35 feet, though you are responsible for safely parking your vehicle.

Will I have access to my vehicle?

Most vehicles will be directed to the parking lot after drop-off. You can access your vehicle at any time, but you are not guaranteed a parking spot next to your camping area.

What if I don’t want to camp?

You can still attend the conference! Other lodging options are available in the area, but these are not included in the price of admission. Attendees are responsible for making their own arrangements.

Can I invite someone to stay with me if they are not a ticket holder?

Conference space is for ticket holders ONLY. Unpaid campers are strictly prohibited and will be dismissed from the property along with the paid attendee(s) who invited them without refund (See Purchase Agreement.)

What will I eat and drink?

Potable water is available on site. Additionally, lunch and dinner are provided on both education days. We will accommodate as many diet preferences as possible. Otherwise, it’s camping, so bring something you can eat and/or cook outside.

What if I’m flying and need fuel canisters and/or fire-starting materials?

These can be purchased in the local area, so plan accordingly. Additional equipment can be sourced in route to the campground.

Can I drink alcohol?

Alcohol is permitted outside of education session hours, but professional behavior is expected of all in attendance. Belligerence will not be tolerated. (See Purchase Agreement.) Be mindful that increased altitude equates to increased effects of alcohol.

What do I need to wear?

Outdoor casual dress is strongly encouraged. This includes cold and rain outer layers and supportive footwear. Unlike other conferences, we discourage business casual dress, because it is inappropriate for the elements.

Where will I go to the restroom?

Porta-potties with hand washing stations are available on site. Bring hand sanitizer.

Where will I shower?

There are no showers. We recommend utilizing bag baths/baby wipes, powders, and other means of hygiene.

What will I do after each day?

The fun and networking never stop! Enjoy outdoor recreation with your fellow attendees by sitting around a bonfire, hiking up a mountain, swimming in a creek, or playing a game. The sky is the limit!

Is there cell phone service?

Yes! 2024’s conference will accommodate multiple major carriers.

What if it rains?

Though unlikely, we cannot control inclement weather. With that said, the conference is RAIN OR SHINE. We will post the latest forecasts and provide some protective measures to assist comfort levels in the event of said weather.

Can I bring my pet?

Due to liability issues, only service animals or working dogs associated with educational content are allowed. You may be questioned about your animal in line with ADA legalities. Animals that do not meet ADA criteria will be dismissed along with their owners without refund. (See Purchase Agreement.)

Can I work the conference?

Our 2024 Volunteer Program is now closed for applications, and we are currently not hiring staff members.
